Industrial water efficiency and process submetering

Scope

Industrial facilities in an Annex 2 NACE activity with 50 or more employees belong to the 18-month group. Check the activity code and employee threshold together, including the situation of multiple activities or premises.

Plan the field implementation

A main meter alone does not explain process performance. Identify significant uses such as cooling, washing, processing, boiler make-up and domestic supply. Compare total volume with production-normalised consumption. Document meter changes, missing data and the baseline period.

Certificate criteria

Green: 10% of total water use from non-conventional sources and application of the relevant NACE guide. Turquoise: at least 20% of wastewater recovered and reused, with the specified management-system and water-footprint criteria.
