Water management in organised industrial zones

Scope

Organised industrial zones, free zones and industrial zones are listed in the 18-month group. Assess the zone authority and the independent industrial activities within the zone separately. The zone certificate should not be assumed to discharge each plant’s obligations.

Plan the field implementation

Meter zone inlets, wells, shared facilities and plot connections. Inventory existing meter outputs and network infrastructure. Distinguish reclaimed-water production from actual reuse and define interfaces with billing or central monitoring. Verify the rules applicable to meters used for billing.

Certificate criteria

Green: 5% of total water use from non-conventional sources. Turquoise: at least 25% of wastewater recovered and reused. The denominators differ. Rainwater, greywater, landscaping, training and sector guides also have to be considered.
